The Ronald Thornton Orchestra Program
Our orchestra students model all attributes of Fort Bend ISD's Profile of a Graduate. Along with musical skills on their orchestral string instruments, students demonstrate unyielding work ethic, self-initiation, collaboration, teamwork, compassion, and grit. Community involvement and pristine performances are key to the program's success. The majority of our students also serve RTMS as school athletes, NJHS members, academic club members, and musicians in our other music fine arts departments, band and choir.
The orchestras rehearse daily in class. After completing their first year in orchestra, students attend weekly technique sectionals and ensemble rehearsals. Each orchestra also works with world-class clinicians to further develop their technique and refine their repertoire. For more information about our orchestras, please email Mrs. Hernandez, the Director of Orchestras. Parents, guardians, teachers, and our community are encouraged to attend all performances and contests throughout the orchestral season. Parents and guardians are also able to attend our daily in-class rehearsals by appointment with Mrs. Hernandez and RTMS administration.
We believe music can change the world.
